It’s almost time to welcome your new friends home! But first, we need to setup a place for them to live. Don’t worry, we’ll walk you through the process.
Step One: Unpack your hive
This is the step you’ll think is a no brainer, but make sure to keep track of all the parts of the hive. Carefully unpack all the components of your beehive, keeping them in their individual wrappers until you’re ready to assemble.
Step Two: Assemble your hive
No engineering degree required. Simply follow the instructions that come with your hive. You’ll find step-by-step pictures that make assembling a synch!
Step Three: Install Your Hive
We’re sure you brainstormed a place in your yard to put your hive, and now it’s time to make it a reality! We have the best luck mounting the beehive on solid surfaces like a tree, wooden fence, or even the side of a shop or garage. The most important thing is to mount it somewhere it will stay in place.
Step Four: Release Your Bee Population
This is the most hazardous step, but the most rewarding. We recommend you wear the “Bee Buddies Bee Suit” so you don’t get stung, unless you feel like a real daredevil! Make sure there is nobody else in the yard when you release them, unless they also have on protective gear. Let out your bee population and let them find their new home.
Step 5: Periodic Checks
It’s okay to check your hive every so often to see if your bees are thriving. They may need a little extra help with food, in that case, it's a good idea to leave them nectar to eat. Remember to disturb them as little as possible, but care for them nonetheless. In most situations, the bees will care for themselves.
This is so helpful! Thank you for putting this information out there!
