Urban Honey

One of the best parts of keeping bees is the Fall harvest; that means honey! It’s so tasty, some people will eat it right out of the hive!

To harvest the honey, you will first need to put on your protective gear, unless you want to get stung!

First, make sure you have the “Bee Buddies Honey Harvester” handy. This will come in use later.

Then, very carefully open your hive. Remove the trays from your hive. We recommend you work with only one tray at a time. You will use your honey harvesting tool to scrape the honey from each of the trays. Keep a canning jar handy to store your honey as you scoop.

When you have scraped the honey from each of the trays, you can either eat it raw with bits of wax, or you can filter it.

To filter out the wax, simply let it sit in the jar for a day or until the wax floats to the top. You can then scrape the wax from the surface.
